Anticipation of Ferro-Chrome Pricing Recovery

Under the basic ordering agreement in May this year, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Strategic Materials had sold 1,355 tons of high carbon ferro-chrome and 960 short tons of low carbon ferro-chrome, equating to $4.89 million in sales.

Materials were sold to various companies including DCM DECOmetal in Austria, GfE-MIR AG in Germany, David J. Joseph Co and Glencore International.

It was also reported that 54.5 short tons of chromium metal were sold for $866,000, as well as 3,000 short tons of ferro manganese for $3.23 million.

However, despite these sales there has been a recent drop in domestic prices of ferrochrome that has led some suppliers to store materials in anticipation of prices recovering. Watch this space...
