Zinc casting alloys are welcoming a new generation into the family in the form of zinc-aluminium foundry alloys 8, 12 and 27. The new alloy has been tried and tested and has proven itself in a wide variety of demanding applications.

Designated 8,12 and 27 because of the approximate aluminium content, the foundry alloy has several advantages over other commonly used casting alloys based around iron and aluminium. Some of the numerous advantages it provides include, better machinability, the ability to be cast to closer tolerances, a superior as-cast surface finish and better suited to short productions.

The advantages of using the zinc-aluminium foundry alloys have resulted in substantially reduced production costs for numerous applications. These economic benefits and inherent properties of foundry alloys account for their use in a rapidly growing list of industrial applications such as pneumatic and hydraulic cylinder components, industrial machine and industrial fittings hardware. It has also been proven that the alloys are tolerant of most foundry gating and feeding systems.
