An alloy is a mixture of two elements, one of which at least is always a metal. Because alloys often have different properties to the metals they contain they are considered more useful than the pure metal alone. For example, alloys are usually harder than the metals they contain will be on their own.

BUT if you’ve never been to Sheffield, you might never have heard the term “Little Mesters.” Those who are familiar with the area and with the metalworking industry know that Little Mesters have long been an integral part of the industry in this area, and that though this trade has declined in recent years, there are still Little Mesters who play an important role in Sheffield’s metalworking.
