William Rowland is a supplier of tin-based white metal bearing alloys, also known as Babbitt alloy. Such alloys offer an unmatched combination of excellent load carrying, friction resistance, run-in, and easy fabrication characteristics.
Babbitt alloys also provide the ability to hold an oil film and operate without adequate lubrication.
The white metals dual-phase properties are harder and contain low friction particles that are held in a soft, malleable matrix. Our tin-based white metal bearing alloys are manufactured on-site from high-grade primary metals.
Qualities:
We can produce Babbitt alloys to BS 3332, ASTM B-23, or NES specifications alternatively, customers may specify a custom alloy. Our alloys are manufactured in-house at our ISO 9001/14001 foundry in Birmingham, with detailed certificates of analysis available for all our products upon request
Applications:
Automotive and aero engines, marine transmission assemblies, heavy machinery such as crushers and power generation turbines, oil & gas, vintage vehicles, steam engines
