Description:
William Rowland, WR Refined Metals High Cobalt plays a vital role in giving the alloy its mechanical and physical properties. Cobalt alloys have good magnetic properties, corrosion properties and excellent strength at elevated temperatures. Cobalt alloys are often found with the presence of Cr, W and Molybdenum that allow the alloy to form metal carbides that give the material its unique properties.
Qualities:
We are stockists of Vale cobalt cathode rounds (cobalt 99.9%) which are produced by the electrolytic process in Canada. The rounds are approximately 35mm diameter x 6mm thick.
Applications:
Cobalt is used primarily in EV battery production, but alloys containing cobalt are also used in the Medical and Aerospace industries refined nickel alloys
Description:
William Rowland, WR Refined Metals anitomy is used to harden alloys. Antimony does not tarnish in dry air and is relatively unreactive.
Antimony is a poor conductor of heat and electricity. It is stable in dry air and is not attacked by dilute acids or alkalis. Antimony and some of its alloys expand on cooling.
Qualities:
Antimony is available in approximately 20kg ingots (99.65% Sb min). The material is quite brittle and is readily broken down to give smaller pieces, which we can supply in a range of sizes to suit customer requirements - for example, 0-3mm and 0-8mm.
Applications:
Automotive, electronic, ceramics and paint
Description:
William Rowland, WR Refined Metals bismuth expands as it solidifies making it ideal for uses, such as in the casting of printing type, and automotive
Bismuth is stable to both dry and moist air at ordinary temperatures.
Qualities:
We supply ingots and pellets, 99.99% Bi pharmaceutical grade and metallurgical grade. The pellets are produced in the 2.5 gram to 150 gram range for ladle addition.
Applications:
Medical, automotive, electronic, solders
Description:
Chromium is the main additive in transforming Steel to Stainless Steel. It’s high corrosion resistance and hardness mean this metal is mostly utilized in Stainless Steel production and Chromium plating.
Qualities:
We are the UK Distributor for DCX Chrome (formally known as Delachaux), who produce aluminothermic grades 99.4% min for air melting and 99.6% Cr min for vacuum melt applications. DCX Chrome also produces a unique double degassed briquette (DDB) 99.8% Cr min which is equivalent to the highest quality electrolytic grades.
Applications:
Medical, automotive, aerospace, steel making
Description:
William Rowland, WR Refined Metals Calcium is added to steel to modify inclusions and desulfurize the steel this helps prevent nozzle clogging in continuous casting.
Calcium metal is used as a reducing agent in preparing metals such as thorium and uranium. It can also be used as an alloying agent for aluminium, beryllium, copper, lead and magnesium alloys.
Qualities:
We supply calcium in ingots, crowns, granules and needles. Typical analysis is Ca 97%, Al 1.8%, Mg 0.8%, but higher grades are available on request.
Applications:
Additive in steel making
Description:
William Rowland, WR Refined Metals low carbon iron billet, otherwise known as mild steel, is relatively soft but equally ductile and tough.
Low Carbon is typically more ductile, machinable, and weldable than other steels, however, it is difficult to harden and strengthen through heating and quenching.
Qualities:
We supply Low Carbon Iron Billet (approx. 25kgs/each) and high purity electrolytic iron flake.
Applications:
Construction
Description:
William Rowland, WR Refined Metals molybdenum is used in alloys to increase strength, hardness, electrical conductivity, and resistance to corrosion.
Qualities:
We supply pure solids, sheet cuttings, bar ends and sintered bar.99% to 99.995% min
Applications:
Manufacturing, Aerospace, Defence
Description:
William Rowland, WR Refined Metals indium has a low melting point and remains soft and workable at low temperatures.
